Early Morning: Ready to Roll
The day starts early at 6:00 AM when I check my work tablet for the day’s service calls. Winter in New Hampshire means our team is in high demand, especially when temperatures drop below freezing. After a quick cup of coffee and checking the wind chill forecast, I load up the service van with essential parts and tools.
First Call: Emergency Furnace Service
My first stop is in Nashua, where a family woke up to a cold house. These emergency calls are priority, especially with young children in the home. Within an hour, I diagnose and repair their furnace’s faulty ignitor, restoring heat to their home. The relief on their faces makes this job worthwhile.
Mid-Morning: Scheduled Maintenance
The next few hours involve preventive maintenance calls in Hudson and Merrimack. Regular maintenance includes:
• Checking heat exchangers
• Testing safety controls
• Cleaning or replacing filters
• Inspecting ductwork
• Calibrating thermostats
Afternoon: Heater Installation
The major project of the day is in Milford – a complete heating system replacement. Working with another technician, we carefully remove the old unit and install a new energy-efficient system. These installations typically take several hours, requiring precise attention to detail and proper calibration.
End of Day: Final Checks
Before heading back to base in the evening, I complete detailed service reports and prepare the van for tomorrow. During winter months, we’re often on-call, ready to help our neighbors throughout southern New Hampshire maintain comfortable, safe homes.
Every day brings different challenges, but ensuring our community stays warm during harsh New England winters makes it all worthwhile.
